Welcome to
The OPEDUCA Project Europe

The OPEDUCA Project aims to develop 'Open Educational Areas' in which schools, private industry, governmental institutions and knowledge institutes cooperate closely to organise learning processes that better match the requirements of the world of work and the development of knowledge. To this end we search for educational approaches and develop instruments that can be applied in regular education. Further information about the objectives and methodology of the project can be found here.

We started our work October 2013. Already during the first meeting of Partners and associated partners in Graz, it became clear this project can count on the dedicated involvement of a fine group of people. Representing 19 partner organisations from 8 European countries.

With the support of the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.

Why this project?

We see and experience first-hand that in practice innovative parts of education are available but coherence is missing; schools launch temporary projects, hire expensive consultants, etc., resulting in fragmented not sustainable actions. A holistic approach is needed to bridge the key parts of better education.

We plan to work towards a labour market oriented education that requires a more scientifically skilled and competent next generation, showing transversal as well as basic skills in a higher degree and being able to turn ideas into action as entrepreneurs of the future. Therewith the project addresses challenges and priorities laid out in “Rethinking Education”.

Schools today have to look at and be open to a more focussed and faster development of their education in order to meet the needs and expectations of the labour market. This project essentially aims to merge schools and the world of work. To fit knowledge and skills to labour market requirements clearly and more directly, the project will define and test its approaches in many different EU regions, creating Open Educational Regions (OPEDUCA). Region’s throughout Europe in which schools, industry, science and governments continuously cooperate as partners in education. This multi-stakeholder regional approach will be brought forth in a policy advice for politicians, school management and industry.

All partners are highly motivated in the transition envisioned. We will share and upgrade our experience to further develop the approach envisioned.
